Red Diamond Merlot
Merlot from Columbia Valley, Washington
Red Diamond Merlot is a polished wine that opens with a beautiful, softly-spiced black cherry, berry and ripe plum aromas on the nose with a toasty oak background. Sweet fruit on the palate is complemented by medium-bodied, but firm tannins, with a nice smooth finish.
This soft and versatile Merlot goes very well with foods containing pork, or steaks, Nyama Choma and vegetarian dishes. It drinks well alone. This is a very approachable wine that we highly recommend especially if you are new to red wine drinking. Enjoy it at home, with friends at a party or an evening night out.

About Merlot Grape
Merlot, a grape of French origin, is the second most popular red grape in America, after Cabernet Sauvignon. Winemakers love Merlot grapes because they are easy to grow and quick to ripen.
A versatile red variety that is known for being soft, silky, generous on fruit and low in tannins, this makes Merlot an easy drinking wine that pairs well with a wide range of foods and drinks well on its own. The wine is often said to have a plummy taste and notes of chocolate. Merlot is considered as an approachable grape varietal and is often recommended as the first red wine someone new to red wine should drink.
Because of its unique ability to add softness and fruit to a wine, Merlot grape is often used to blend with other grapes, especially Cabernet Sauvignon to produce some of the finest wines in the world, like the famously renowned Bordeaux wine blend. It also dominates in blends with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grape.
However, since its arrival in America, the winemakers particularly in the California’s Napa Valley often make wines using 100% Merlot grape.
In the New World regions of California, Washington, Australia, Chile where the climate is warmer, this bring out variety of fruit flavors in merlot – such as black cherry, plum and jam flavors, along with softer tannins and medium to low acidity. When oaked, secondary flavors like vanilla, leather, tobacco and earth emerge from the wine.
